Retirement

This photo won first place in the 1998 Missouri Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. It also won second place in the National Press Photographers Association Monthly Clip Contest, May 1997. One judge from the NPPA contest said this was the assignment we've all gone to a million times but this was the shot we all wish we could have gotten.

Veterans Day Parade

This one earned a second place in the 1998 Missouri Press Association Better Newspaper Contest. Personally, I like the subtle way it says "parade." The parade is part of the annual week-long Veterans Homecoming celebration in Branson, Mo., which brings thousands of veterans to the Tri-Lakes Area.

Tug-of-war

This team won a tug-of-war contest and avoided a trip into a mud pit at College of the Ozarks in Branson, Mo.

Young virtuosos

The 1993 News Photo of the Year, as awarded by the Associated Collegiate Press, is by far my best photo from my college days with "The Chart" at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin. It also won a first place award in the 1993 Missouri College Press Association contest.

Exotic Butterfly

This was the lead photo on a photo page I did on The Butterfly Place in Branson, Mo. With the use of macro extension tubes and some interesting greenhouse-style lighting, the photo exhibits an odd aura around this exotic South American butterfly.

Ice Cream Social

A young Joplin, Mo., girl enjoys a cone during an ice cream social sponsored by the Joplin Parks and Recreation Department in the summer of 2000.

Tight Grip

During a fall 2000 pumpkin festival in Republic, Mo., a young boy is startled by a train's horn and grips tightly to his father's pants for security.

Juggling Act

A Branson Kindergarten Center student juggles handkerchiefs while performing as a clown during the school's annual circus held for parents and the community at the school in 1999.
